Description

The Commercial Raisin Gravity Separator and Destoner provides a high-capacity solution for processors that need to separate products according to differences in density. It is particularly useful when stones, defective products and foreign materials are similar in size to the acceptable product and cannot be removed effectively by conventional screening alone. The machine operates by combining controlled airflow with the reciprocating movement and adjustable inclination of its separation deck. Air passes upward through the perforated deck, partially suspending the product while the vibrating surface moves materials with different densities in separate directions. Heavier particles remain in closer contact with the deck and travel towards the designated heavy-product or stone discharge point. Lighter materials are lifted more strongly by the airflow and move towards a different outlet. Correctly adjusted operating conditions allow the acceptable product to be collected separately from dense contaminants and lightweight waste. When processing raisins, the machine can assist with removing stones, soil particles, underdeveloped or excessively lightweight fruit and other density-differentiated impurities. Actual separation performance depends on the variety, moisture level, surface condition, cleanliness and free-flowing characteristics of the incoming product. Raisins can become sticky or form clusters when their moisture content or surface sugar is high. Clumped material may not spread evenly across the separation deck and can reduce sorting accuracy. Pre-conditioning, cluster separation or controlled feeding may therefore be required before the product enters the gravity table. Two principal configurations are available. The reference 5XZ-8 model has a nominal capacity of approximately 8 tons per hour, while the larger 5XZ-15 configuration is rated at approximately 15 tons per hour. These capacity figures are general reference values and should not be interpreted as guaranteed raisin-processing outputs. Actual raisin throughput may be lower than the nominal grain capacity because of differences in bulk density, moisture, stickiness and required separation accuracy. A material test using a representative product sample is recommended before the final machine configuration is approved. The rectangular separation deck provides a broad working area for distributing the incoming product into a controlled layer. Its oscillating action moves the material across the deck while the upward airflow creates the conditions required for density-based separation. The deck’s vibration speed can be adjusted across a suitable operating range. Its longitudinal and lateral angles can also be modified, allowing the operator to control the direction, residence time and movement of the material. These adjustments are important when changing between raisins, grains, beans, seeds and other products with different physical characteristics. Multiple fans supply air beneath the deck. The fans are dynamically balanced and mounted on a common shaft, while individual air controls allow the airflow beneath different sections of the separation surface to be adjusted. This assists with achieving a more even fluidised product layer across the deck. The smaller configuration has an approximately 4.3 m² separation-deck area and a listed power requirement of approximately 14.32 kW. The larger configuration provides an approximately 9.12 m² deck area and requires approximately 35.57 kW. The reference electrical system can be configured for 220 V, 380 V, 440 V or 480 V. The selected voltage, frequency, phase arrangement, motor quantity and total connected load must be confirmed before production. High-output configurations will normally require a dedicated commercial three-phase electrical connection. The machine uses an eccentric and connecting-rod mechanism to create the deck’s reciprocating movement. Counterbalanced eccentric components help smooth the oscillating action and reduce unnecessary vibration being transferred into the supporting frame. A reinforced structural frame supports the deck, fan assembly, motors and discharge system. The complete machine must be installed on a strong, level industrial foundation capable of carrying its operating weight and resisting continuous vibration. The reference 8-ton configuration weighs approximately 2,000 kg and measures approximately 3,810 × 2,960 × 2,935 mm. The 15-ton configuration weighs approximately 4,500 kg and measures approximately 5,500 × 2,650 × 2,200 mm. Sufficient installation and service space must be allowed around the machine in addition to these dimensions. The machine can be integrated into a larger raisin, seed or grain-cleaning line. An elevator may be installed to transfer raw material into the inlet, while a controlled feeder can regulate the product layer entering the separation deck. Conveyors or collection containers can be positioned beneath the different discharge outlets. A vibratory feeder is available for products that do not flow consistently. Additional separation decks may also be supplied for smaller seeds or specialist products. The selected deck perforation and surface design must be matched to the size and characteristics of the material being processed. Optional dust-management equipment can include a canopy, ducting, cyclone separator and extraction fan. Dust control is recommended when processing dry agricultural materials that produce airborne particles. The required system capacity should be determined according to the product and installation environment. The separation deck, air chamber and discharge spouts are designed to limit material accumulation during operation. Regular inspection and cleaning are nevertheless essential, especially when processing raisins or other products that may leave sticky residue. The machine improves product cleaning but should not automatically be treated as a complete food-safety system. It may need to operate alongside pre-cleaners, screens, aspiration equipment, magnets, metal detectors, optical sorters and manual inspection stations, depending on the final product standard. Food-contact material requirements should be confirmed before ordering. Although carbon-steel and stainless-steel components are listed, the exact grade and location of the stainless-steel surfaces must be specified if the machine will directly process ready-to-pack food products. Operators should be trained to balance airflow, deck angle, feed rate and vibration speed. Excessive airflow may carry acceptable product towards the light-material outlet, while insufficient airflow can reduce density separation. Incorrect deck inclination or overfeeding can also cause good product and impurities to mix. With its adjustable operating parameters, heavy-duty construction and two high-capacity configurations, this gravity separator provides a versatile cleaning solution for raisin processors, agricultural cooperatives, grain-cleaning facilities and commercial food-processing operations.
