Description

The Tricone Rock Drill Bit uses three rotating cones to crush, scrape and break the formation as the drill string rotates. The roller-cone configuration supports efficient penetration and stable borehole development in water-well, mining, geological and other rotary-drilling applications. Sizes are available from approximately 3 inches to 12¼ inches, equivalent to about 76.2–311.2mm. The appropriate diameter should be selected according to the required borehole size and drilling-rig capacity. Depending on the selected configuration, the bit may be supplied with milled steel teeth or tungsten-carbide inserts for different formation conditions. Thread connections, bearing systems, sealing arrangements and IADC classifications vary between models and must be matched to the drill rig and geology. The manufacturer lists tricone bits for water wells, mining, geological surveys, geothermal drilling, oil and gas wells, horizontal directional drilling and foundation projects.
