Description

The Plasma Activated Water Food Cleaning System provides an alternative method for treating process water used in commercial food washing and agricultural applications. The system operates by passing ordinary air through a plasma ionisation chamber. High-voltage ionisation generates reactive positive and negative ions, which are then introduced into water. Once transferred into the water, these reactive species temporarily increase the water’s oxidation-reduction potential and provide antimicrobial activity. The system uses dielectric barrier discharge technology, commonly referred to as DBD plasma technology. Unlike conventional water-treatment systems that rely heavily on chlorine or other chemical disinfectants, plasma-activated water can provide sanitation capability without continuously adding chemical treatment agents. The PS-518TF configuration provides a rated treatment capacity of approximately 1,800 litres per hour, making it suitable for commercial-scale food washing and water-treatment applications. The unit incorporates 18 plasma ionisation tubes, each approximately 350 mm long. The ion tubes have an estimated service life of approximately 17,000 operating hours, helping minimise routine replacement requirements. The system’s electrical consumption is approximately 40 W, providing relatively low operating power requirements compared with many conventional industrial treatment technologies. The unit operates from AC 130 V or AC 240 V, with 50/60 Hz frequency compatibility. Its compact housing measures approximately 650 × 550 × 200 mm and has an approximate net weight of 30 kg. Stainless-steel construction provides corrosion resistance and makes the unit suitable for installation in food-processing and water-treatment environments. The system can be integrated with pumps, tanks, circulation systems and compatible food-washing equipment to treat water before or during processing. For fruit and vegetable processing, plasma-activated water may help reduce microorganisms and selected agricultural residues from product surfaces. It can also be incorporated into meat and seafood washing systems where controlled process-water sanitation is required. Overall, the system combines high-volume water treatment, low electrical consumption, plasma ionisation and chemical-reduction capability in a compact commercial configuration.
